I don’t want to Lock in, I want to Lock Out!!
Here I am, writing while I fly… it’s been a minute since I did this… Anyhow, why is everyone trying to Lock in? Let me explain…
Sometimes we really put so much pressure on ourselves, It seems like we’re constantly running a race we didn’t even sign up for, and at every turn, life tells us that we’re falling behind. It’s almost as if we think we are constantly failing, perpetually not enough, and forever chasing some invisible finish line. But here’s a thought: what if we just… aren’t?
What if, instead of this relentless internal critique, we acknowledged something truly fundamental? We are doing the absolute best we can in this very moment. Seriously. With the information we have, the resources at our disposal, and the energy we’re working with, we are genuinely doing our level best. This isn’t about complacency; it’s about a radical acceptance that allows us to breathe.
So, if “locking in” to endless striving and self-criticism isn’t the answer, what do we do? What we truly need to “lock out” are those negative thoughts that whisper doubts in our ears, that draining negative energy that seeps into our days, and those situations and people that, honestly, no longer serve us. It’s time to politely, but firmly, show them the door.
We have an incredible, often underutilized, superpower: choice. We have a profound choice in the energy we receive, in the thoughts we entertain, and in the company we keep. It’s about making decisions that truly honor and serve us, our peace, and our growth. It’s not selfish; it’s self-preservation and self-love. It’s about consciously curating our internal and external worlds so they uplift, not drain.
While it’s good to focus, to set intentions, and to work towards something bigger, it’s profoundly more important to simply live. To experience, to feel, to connect. To let go of the rigid grip of “locking in” and embrace the freeing act of “locking out” what diminishes us, making space for all that truly expands us. Let’s live
