We Don’t Want No Devils In The House! We Want The Lord!

I’ve been a bit under the weather so I haven’t been writing as I focus on recovering. Sometimes you need to listen to your body and after 3 days of chilling, I’m feeling 90%, so let’s get back on the grind! I’ve listened to so much music over these last few days, Kendrick dropped a new EP, plus I’ve revisited some albums that I admittedly “skimmed” through. I’m still bumping The Life Of Pablo though, this album gives me life on so many levels, the different textures, beats and themes keep me going.

The album opens with a skit of a young girl preaching “we don’t want no devils in the house, we want the Lord!” To be honest it’s so cute, but at the same time that line has been with me these last few weeks. We don’t want no devils in the house.

People come into your life for many reasons, sometimes it’s for a day, week, sometimes for a life time and good people are blessings … but not everyone is good.

As hard as it can seem, we must learn the art of letting go. In my own life, I have reluctantly learnt that true loyalty must include loyalty to self. Regardless of the right or wrong in any situation, you have to learn that sometimes by holding on to people, you end up shortchanging yourself. Sometimes friendships end, sometimes new ones begin and that’s the beauty of life. We are changing daily and when we have friendships or relationships that have become toxic, we need to let go of them.

I don’t worry about friendships that come to an end. Nothing in life is permanent. I refuse to hold on to things or people that are no longer good for me. Goodbye is as important as hello.

“We don’t want no devils in the house, we want the Lord!!”

Amen
